‘Artivism’ in Afghanistan: Can it Survive the War?

Abstract

Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan is termed to be one of the ugliest cities in the world. This a rather tone-deaf statement, but as a city at war, Kabul is lined with dozens of concrete blast walls. Houses of powerful people, government buildings and embassies are lined with double rows of these concrete walls (Newsela | Afghani Artist Puts Beautiful Images on Kabul’s Ugly Walls of War, n.d.). This represents the divide in Afghanistan.
