Increasing community social capital is widely viewed as one of the benefits of the deployment of information and communications technologies. A meta-analysis of the literature related to social capital and ICTs is completed. Using the five elements of social capital generally described in the research literature, the meta-analysis examines the empirical findings related to each of these five elements. The results indicate that much work remains to be done before it can be said with any validity that ICTs can, in fact, create community social capital.Téléchargements
