Abstract

Mental illness is a taboo amongst the South Asian community. Although at an increased risk of developing mental health disorders, the belief that discussing mental health is shameful leads to the community’s underutilization of psychological resources. Essentially, it seems that attempts to evade shame increase assessment avoidance.1
